They made history <strong>by raising the Red and White flag <\/strong>along with the Tribrata flag on Puncak Jaya (Carstensz Pyramid) - the highest point in Indonesia at 4,884 meters above sea level. This act symbolized struggle, equality, and a deeply stirring spirit of nationalism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udc6e\u200d\u2640\ufe0f Resilient Women Defying the Skies of Papua<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The expedition was initiated by <strong>Tri Tito Karnavian<\/strong>, the patron of the Policewomen corps and wife of then National Police Chief General Tito Karnavian. The team consisted of one mid-ranking officer, two junior officers, and 21 young non-commissioned officers selected through a rigorous process from over 120 Polwan candidates across Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Led by Police Commissioner<strong> (AKBP) Siwi Erma Andriani,<\/strong> this mission was not merely a climb - it was a bold statement that female police officers are <strong>equal to their male counterparts (Polki)<\/strong>, In the end, it's all about possessing the same strength, discipline, and endurance to conquer extreme challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cWe want to prove that women are just as capable. This mission is about service, pride, and the determination to elevate the dignity of Indonesian policewomen,\u201d said AKBP Siwi.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udfd4\ufe0f From Sukabumi to the Jayawijaya Summit<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Before reaching Carstensz, the Polwan team underwent two intensive training phases: the first in Sukabumi and Mount Gede, and the second in Citatah (Padalarang) for rock climbing practice. They then headed to Papua for acclimatization and technical training in the Carstensz region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the guidance of professionals from <strong>Wanadri<\/strong>, The team learned how to handle extreme temperatures, sudden storms, and the technical climbing skills needed to scale the steep cliffs toward the summit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/adventurecarstensz.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-05-12-at-11.55.55_4983317a-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2498\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udff3\ufe0f A Sacred Mission on a Sacred Day<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>On <strong>August 17, 2017<\/strong>, with firm steps and unwavering spirit, they raised the Red and White flag atop Puncak Jaya, Papua - a moment that became a <strong>powerful symbol of Indonesian women's role in upholding national pride and institutional honor.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The team didn't stop at the Carstensz Pyramid - they also summited <strong>Soekarno Peak<\/strong> and <strong>East Carstensz<\/strong>, Despite the exhausting and technically demanding routes. Harsh weather and rugged terrain did not break their spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cAt one point, we danced just to warm ourselves when the temperature dropped drastically. Our camaraderie and laughter kept us going in the face of hardship,\u201d Siwi recounted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/adventurecarstensz.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-05-12-at-11.55.56_e0844828-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2500\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udf1f More Than Just a Climb<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This expedition was more than a physical achievement...<strong> it marked a cultural shift within the institution<\/strong>. Siwi mentioned that Police Chief Tito Karnavian had been encouraging reform within the Indonesian National Police, including greater opportunities for women to lead in strategic roles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cWe hope this mission opens more doors for Polwan to achieve, be recognized as equals, and be trusted in strategic positions within Polri,\u201d she concluded.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Papua Mountaineering Association<\/strong> proudly remembers this remarkable expedition as a testament to national spirit, gender equality, and love for the homeland.
