This act symbolized struggle, equality, and a deeply stirring spirit of nationalism.

The expedition was initiated by Tri Tito Karnavian, the patron of the Policewomen corps and wife of then National Police Chief General Tito Karnavian. The team consisted of one mid-ranking officer, two junior officers, and 21 young non-commissioned officers selected through a rigorous process from over 120 Polwan candidates across Indonesia.

Led by Police Commissioner (AKBP) Siwi Erma Andriani, this mission was not merely a climb - it was a bold statement that female police officers are equal to their male counterparts (Polki), In the end, it's all about possessing the same strength, discipline, and endurance to conquer extreme challenges.

“We want to prove that women are just as capable. This mission is about service, pride, and the determination to elevate the dignity of Indonesian policewomen,” said AKBP Siwi.

🏔️ From Sukabumi to the Jayawijaya Summit

Before reaching Carstensz, the Polwan team underwent two intensive training phases: the first in Sukabumi and Mount Gede, and the second in Citatah (Padalarang) for rock climbing practice. They then headed to Papua for acclimatization and technical training in the Carstensz region.

Under the guidance of professionals from Wanadri, The team learned how to handle extreme temperatures, sudden storms, and the technical climbing skills needed to scale the steep cliffs toward the summit.

🌟 More Than Just a Climb

This expedition was more than a physical achievement... it marked a cultural shift within the institution. Siwi mentioned that Police Chief Tito Karnavian had been encouraging reform within the Indonesian National Police, including greater opportunities for women to lead in strategic roles.

“We hope this mission opens more doors for Polwan to achieve, be recognized as equals, and be trusted in strategic positions within Polri,” she concluded.
