Papua Mountaineering Association Founder Maximus Tipagau Explores the Natural Wonders of Zhangjiajie and Tianmen Mountain
The founder of Papua Mountaineering Association (PMA), Maximus Tipagau, recently set out on an incredible trip to China’s Zhangjiajie and Tianmen Mountains. The visit, which was made possible by Mr. Felix’s special invitation, represents a significant advancement in Maximus’s goal of fostering worldwide connections via adventure, culture, and the natural world.
Their exploration began early in the morning as Mr. Felix welcomed Maximus to ascend the world-renowned Zhangjiajie Mountain, an outstanding area noted for its towering sandstone pillars and magical vistas. They started their first climb after making their way from the hotel to the mountain’s foot. They trekked over the picturesque trails, making a stop at a climbing rest place to enjoy lunch with amazing views. Maximus was able to completely immerse himself in the natural beauty and spiritual aura that Zhangjiajie offers for people all over the world as the trek continued up to the top of the mountain.
Descending the mountain, Maximus and Mr. Felix completed the day with a nice meal together which gave an opportunity to reflect on the rich experiences shared while conquering Zhangjiajie’s distinctive landscape.
The experience did not end there. Afterwards, Mr. Felix asked Maximus to go to a traditional opera that the Zhangjiajie locals were performing. Maximus not only witnessed the performance but also got the honor of participating in a cultural dance alongside local folks. This occasion underlined the spirit of exchange between Papua’s climbing culture and China’s deeply ingrained ethnic heritage.
The journey to the summit with Maximus Tipagau is more than just an exhilarating mountain experience. It acts as a link between communities, promoting a greater understanding of culture and tying Papua to international climbing networks. The Papua Mountaineering Association continues to empower Papuan youth, encourage international cooperation, and promote Indonesian mountaineers’ sense of adventure on a global scale through programs like this one.
